Practice Nurse
Sister Hilary Watt RGN Grade G is the practice nurse and is available by appointment.
Her numerous tasks include:
- Infant and adult immunisations
- Cervical smears
- Dressings and removal of stitches
- Ear syringing
- Clinics to monitor chronic disease management
- Travel vaccinations and advice
She also assists the doctors in minor surgery and is always available to offer professional advice. Appointments may be made by telephoning the surgery after 10.00am each morning.

The secretaries on the reception desk will assist you in making emergency and routine appointments to see your doctor, undertake repeat prescriptions, answer numerous and varied questions and offer help and assistance at all times. It is a legal requirement that confidentiality of patients’ records is maintained at the highest level by all staff.

Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust also employs district nurses, health visitors and community midwives.
District Nurses
District nurses are available to see severely housebound patients at home when necessary and give practical assistance or offer professional advice. Each patient’s needs are assessed and their care/treatment is planned accordingly. Duties include care for the chronically or acutely sick or terminally ill, dressings and removal of stitches. Incontinence advice is also available, as are various aids and appliances.
Community Midwives
Community midwives provide care for mothers before and after delivery. They also offer help for the first fortnight of the newborn’s life. The surgery can give you an up-to-date list of where the clinics are held.
Health Visitors
Health visitors are available to offer help and advice for the under fives. The health visitor carries out routine baby checks and weighing and advice on immunisation. The immunisations are carried out in the surgery by the doctor or nurse.
Teaching And Training
This practice does not participate in the teaching of medical students or newly qualified doctors. In house training is given to the staff on day to day issues in the practice.
